Typical shipments in the steel and metal industry

Steel and metal transports are among the most demanding tasks in road freight: sheet metal and sheet packs, tubes, profiles and beams, wire, semi-finished products and complete steel structures for construction projects. The goods are heavy, often long, and concentrate their weight on little bearing surface. At the same time, many products are more sensitive than one might think: bright surfaces corrode in the wet, and machined edges and precision parts must not knock or deform during handling.

Requirements for steel and metal transports

The advantage of direct transport for metal goods

Every additional crane handling is a risk for the goods and for occupational safety with steel – bent profiles, knocked edges and shifted packs almost always arise during transhipment. Direct transport eliminates this step: your load is picked up at the works or dealer and driven without an intermediate stop to the processor. The recipient's production control sees by GPS when the material will arrive and can allocate crane and crew accordingly.

Reliably from the works to the processor

Whether regular plant traffic between steelworks, dealer and processing business or the time-critical delivery of a structure to an assembly site: you receive a fixed price in advance that includes tolls and all incidental costs. With the shipment data we plan load distribution and securing, coordinate the crane times at both ends and keep you up to date via GPS tracking. For urgent items – for example when material is missing for ongoing production – our team dispatches around the clock.

Frequently asked questions

How much weight can a steel load have in direct transport?

The decisive factors are the permitted payload of the articulated lorry and correct load distribution over the axles – especially with concentrated loads on a small area. Tell us the weights, lengths and package breakdown with the enquiry; we check the loading in advance and use the right vehicle.

How is steel secured on the vehicle?

With proper load securing: anti-slip mats, edge protection and a sufficient number of lashings, matched to the weight and shape of the packages. Bright and coated goods travel protected from wet under the tarpaulin. The securing is checked during loading before the vehicle departs.

Do you deliver steel components directly to the assembly site?

Yes. We coordinate access, crane times and contacts with the site in advance and clock the delivery to the assembly progress. Because the structure stays on one vehicle without transhipment, the components arrive undamaged and in the planned sequence – the crew can start assembling right away.
