What does a dedicated transport cost?
The price of a dedicated transport cannot be quoted as a flat rate – it depends on your specific shipment. Unlike groupage with fixed tariffs, we calculate every direct run individually. That may sound involved, but it is precisely why you only pay for what you really need: one vehicle, one trip, one fixed price.
The 6 key cost factors
- Distance & route: kilometres driven, border crossings, tolls (e.g. Germany, France, Austria) and, where applicable, ferry/Eurotunnel.
- Vehicle size: from the van to the articulated truck – the more load space required, the higher the base cost (see table).
- Weight & volume: payload and required loading metres determine the right vehicle.
- Loading date & urgency: express pick-up within 60 minutes or fixed time slots (JiT) cost more than plannable lead times.
- Additional services: customs clearance (non-EU), load securing, double crew, extended cargo insurance.
- Utilisation & return freight: whether a load is available for the return trip has a noticeable effect on the price.
Vehicles & capacities at a glance
As a rough guide to which vehicle suits your shipment:
| Vehicle type | Payload (approx.) | Loading metres | Pallets (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Van / panel van | up to ~1.2 t | 3–4 loading metres | up to ~8 Euro pallets |
| 7.5-tonne truck | up to ~2.5–3 t | 5–6 loading metres | up to ~18 Euro pallets |
| 12-tonne truck | up to ~5–6 t | 7–8 loading metres | up to ~21 Euro pallets |
| Articulated truck (curtainsider) | up to ~24 t | 13.6 loading metres | 33–34 Euro pallets |
Figures are typical reference values; the exact capacity depends on the specific vehicle.

Frequently asked questions about prices
What does a dedicated transport cost?
The price depends on distance, vehicle size, weight, loading date and additional services. You usually receive a binding fixed price within a few minutes. More on this on our Prices page.
What is the difference between FTL and LTL?
FTL (full truckload) means one vehicle runs exclusively for your shipment – ideal for time-critical, large or sensitive goods. LTL (less than truckload) combines several shipments on one vehicle and is economical when your volume does not require a full load space.
How quickly can you collect?
For express transports we dispatch around the clock and set off – depending on vehicle availability – within a short time. For plannable transports we agree fixed loading dates and time slots.
