Frequently asked questions

The key questions and answers about dedicated transport across Europe. Your question not covered? Contact us – we usually reply within a few hours.

What is a dedicated transport and what does “transhipment-free” mean?

In a dedicated transport your shipment stays on the same vehicle from loading to unloading – with no transhipment via a hub or warehouse. This shortens transit times, reduces the risk of damage and loss, and allows continuous GPS tracking with a fixed driver.

What is the difference between FTL and LTL?

FTL (full truckload) means one vehicle runs exclusively for your shipment – ideal for time-critical, large or sensitive goods. LTL (less than truckload) combines several shipments on one vehicle and is economical when your volume does not require a full load space.

How quickly can you collect?

For express transports we dispatch around the clock and set off – depending on vehicle availability – within a short time. For plannable transports we agree fixed loading dates and time slots.

What does a dedicated transport cost?

The price depends on distance, vehicle size, weight, loading date and additional services. You usually receive a binding fixed price within a few minutes. More on this on our Prices page.

Do you handle customs clearance?

Yes. For corridors to non-EU countries such as Switzerland, the United Kingdom or Norway we organise export/import clearance and the required documents so your goods pass the border without delay.

How are my goods insured and how do you accept liability?

We provide our services on the basis of the ADSp 2017; for cross-border road transport the CMR applies, with liability of generally 8.33 special drawing rights per kilogram of gross weight. On request we arrange extended cargo insurance.

Can I track my shipment in real time?

Yes. Because a dedicated vehicle with a dedicated driver is on the road, your shipment can be tracked continuously via GPS – you always know where your goods are.

In which languages can I make an enquiry?

Our dispatch and communication run in ten European languages: German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Polish and Swedish.

Do you also transport dangerous goods or oversized cargo?

For ADR-regulated dangerous goods transports we refer you to our sister brand Gefahrgut Express (adr-spedition.de), and for oversized and heavy transports to Oversize Transport. That way you find the right specialisation for every requirement.
